I fail to see the message you meant to send but disguised.
I basically found this in my garage, and did some research. I was going to toss it and then found out its a designer chair that I really don't want.
So, I'm selling it. I am curious about its origins and features, mainly because I spent hours researching it and came up with zilch, but ultimately, I am not interested in keeping it.
So again, if you have any information on the chair itself, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
PS: Where do I find this sparkle dust?
Tiroir,
I think what what object is getting at, is that this Herman Miller DAX chair is all over the internet. This is one of those pieces that there is an abundance of information on, and asking for general information here, is kinda wasting peoples time (and shows a bit of laziness on your part). It is not likely that one could spend hours on the internet, and come up with zilch...
Also, the forum rules, (#2) of basic rules, says that you are not allowed to sell things on this part of the forum, there is the 'buy and sell' section for that.
I suggest you google "Eams designed DAX chair by Herman MIller," and other variants of this, to start. With a little effort, you should be able to find out all that you want to know about this chair, and if there are specific details that you can't find, then would be the time to come back and ask those questions.
tiroir,
I am niceguy and it comes naturally to me to persuade you of the errors of your ways and strongly suggest you change your actions and attitude.
The furniture addicts a bad rep will start with you should you continue to proudly display your self centered ignorance.
objectworship did not come close to asking what is you major malfunction (rhetorical) and wondering how it comes to be that you excel in stupidity.
I would also suggest that your spelling is poor and your sentence construction is primitive at best.
objectworship,
You are correct. I am sorry. Upon inspection I hope you receive special treatment (mental help).
tiroir,
My initial statements were harsh. I am sorry. I kindly suggest you appear to be lazy, unimaginative and ignorant. I hope you also receive special treatment (a long list).
Interesting features of the chair (and by that I mean very mildly):
Apparent overall condition is quite good! Especially the patent label (until somebody went and picked at it, anyway).
Evidence of once having round medallion, maybe.
"wall-saver" H-base.
"Robertson" or square-drive screws.
Transitional(?) glides, of which at least one is missing.
That's all I got. Except that I've, somehow embarrassingly, enjoyed this thread as it has unfolded so far.
Shout-out to Eameshead: I miss you, man!
I miss you too tktoo. (Hey Im around though. But I know you knew that already)
Here goes:
The patent number on the sticker indicates manufacture date of around 1959.
One glide looks dark, but the other rear glide looks like white plastic.
The white plastic glides started in 57, so that is still consistent for a 1959 manufacture date.
Same for the medallion. (Around 55-60)
Are you sure the chair has three dots? (They are not pictured here).
Generally, most of the three-dot "transitional" shells were made from 1954 - 1956, before the white plastic glides came along in 57, and most often had no raised embossments of any kind.
But I have seen a few with just the raised H logo (as yours has) and there are indeed lots of outliers and overlaps on these transitional shells.
A 1959 shell would have to be one of the very last of the three-dot shells-- IF it really has the dots. (Unless they slapped a 1959 sticker on some three year old stock shell laying around at the factory)
But don't get too excited… After all, a three dot shell with LARGE mounts and X base-- or even small mounts and an X base -- would be much more exciting to one of those Eames nerd type guys we get around here… heh
Okay, okay its a big deal to ME, but I'm, you know…. But you'll wait quite a while to get paid extra just because it happens to be at the end of the Zenith run.
Are you SURE it has the three dots? Did you check?
Nerds night out!
Thank you for your reply ! I really appreciate it. I apologize for any rudeness that may have come across from myself. I honestly didn't mean for that to come across - I'm just not a furniture person but obviously I respect what you guys do, and what you have done for me. So thank you very much for helping me and again, sorry for any disrespect that you guys felt.
