hello all, does anyone know if Heals did rip-offs of famous designs. I seem to remember someone showing a photo on here recently of a dining table that was sold by (and possible manufactured for) Heals and was subtly different from a well-known Danish design. I have come across a super-ellipse table but the person selling it can only tell me she bought it from Heals (I haven't seen it yet to see if there are any makers marks). cheers, paul.
Heal's
had their own central London factory producing furniture in the 60s and into the Seventies
Much of it was inevitably inspired by what was selling well instore.
They had a huge 'contracts' business in those days, supplying offices, hotels etc.
They were very much more than just a store.
