I have returned to this forum after an absence of three years. The reason for leaving in the first place was that I was constantly insulted by a forum user called simply 'b'.
Can I rest assured that this rude person has finally stopped submitting to the forum? Or are they still around?
Cheers
Stephen
i think he's gone but......
i am also rude, sardonic, and somewhat mean spirited!
i honestly think everyone is to a certain degree.
come on don't be afraid of any thing. your point of view no matter how ridiculous merits some modernist attention, even rudeboys.
FDR said it best "we modernist have nothing to fear, except fear itself!"
i look forward to your scribblings........

Hi Stephen..
While you made better use of your time, the forum has been doing well. "b" is still around, at least I hope so, but with less colourful language as before. We still spend much time on "ID the designer, or... no matter how ugly the product is, I want to know who did this to us" very popular are still questions like:"how do I repair a broken window?" and one of the favorites is still: "Is the sun real or is it just a copy aimed at making money?..and how can I see the difference" But the most important thing is that nobody has lost the passion, nor the conviction that somehow well designed products...or at least well intended products contribute to happiness, especially when you "find" them. Welcome back
No one has the right not to be offended
It's a saying that has been around for a long time. It's valid and if people could accept it there would be a whole lot less war and terrorism in the world. But, by the same token, no one has the right to devalue the opinions of others. I think that's what got many of the DA folks annoyed with past rudeness. But that's done and gone and, as Koen has said, lively discussion prevails.
So, Koen, who is claiming to own the copyright/patent on the sun? Do they have the original drawings? 😉
Hi Olive...
Well, that's the problem, someone is still claiming that he or she created it...but no papers or drawings, not even a small sketch to prove it....yet it is such a nice product, it disappears regularely so that everyone can wait in anticipation, it is extremely useful, reliable, ecological and at least over a relatively long period, renewable...unfortunately it can not be repaired but it can be enjoyed by all, yet, it is owned by nobody. Sounds like a very well designed product, so, lets continue to gravitate around it...see what's happening.
By the way, a Happy new year to all those who start the new year on september 22.
.
I too stopped posting when b was cooking her blue bird brain with a bit to much of the spice I call caustic. And I'm still amazed that someone of Az's writing skills can actually recommend reading material that is somewhat on target. I can't help but think that one doesn't have to be very well educated to have a good eye. How would other professionals react when a face to face meeting would be required with such a person? I would have to politely thank the designer/shopkkeeper and move on, as I've done with this forum.
I really hope...
I hope that someone wouldn't leave this forum due to a few rude members. I have learned a lot from all the great members and read lots of great posts. If I let a few bad apples ruin all the things I do, I wouldn't drive, go out in public or talk to anyone. I have no idea who "B" is, but no typed words on this site could make me go.
hey jimmy! that's the spirit!
i have to admit that brutal and even cruel honesty is much more welcome to me than bland blah blah blah. i prefer being berated on a viceral level than falsely praised. we modernist must be truely free people or else our clean honest lines are not true.
hey B where are you when we need you, dam it!
Here to stay
Like any communal group we have good times and not so good times. But what I learn and am able to share hre is worth more to me than any slight could take from me. This is a great place! Huzzah for DA!
PS: Hi Mark, nice to have you back. Missed ya, how's life in sunny FL?
