I apologize in advance for another shockmount thread, but I never heard anything about this, so thought some folks might be interested.
I was helping my friend move and disassembled his March 2010 production 670. I was surprised to see the shockmounts on the seat bottom look a little different. The mounts on the back look the same as always.
As you can seen in the photo, not only is the veneer routered away, but there are also some small screws just below the shockmount itself, screwing into the wood shell. Anyone have any idea when this was changed?
I'm not entirely sure if this has anything to do with the actual strength of the mount though. Maybe those screws just orient the mount so it dries in the right position? Because otherwise, it would seem better to put screws through the thick part of the rubber, not this little rubber extension there.
Any ideas, folks?
And yes, this is 100% a real chair. Has all the paper work and was ordered direct from HM. March 2010 production.
