Hi guys,

I'm looking at buying a pair of these chairs (I love them!), but they are missing the cushion. All they have is this webbing stretched on them. I've never seen the underside of the chair before, is this normal? I thought they had a drop in cushion. Just curious what I might be getting myself into here.

Thanks!

Mike

Not real
There should not be webbing, and there should certainly not be any corner blocking. They should be labeled with a burn mark on the frame. I don't think those are real.

Pegboard, thanks so much for...
Pegboard, thanks so much for the reply. OK, I'll avoid these then.
Are all of the real ones stamped? And now I'm curious, how are the cushions fashioned on a real chair?

Leather or cane
The ones with the cane seat are obviously woven to the frame. The upholstered seats are held to the frame with a screw through a metal eyelet. I think the newer production may have a short metal strap with a hole but regardless of generation, they are all signed with a burnt mark.

Here
is an example of the newer production. Image shows brand mark and fastener. Older chairs have what is basically a large eye screw.
