Found these today locally! I'm in love with this table and these chairs and have wanted them for several years. The price is definitely right at $1,300 and the chairs are all there even though one is not pictured. Now how do I sneak $1,300 out of the account and hide it all from my wife?

Dear Chris
These sets are routinely sold in Canada (Toronto and Montreal) for under 1000. paltry Canadian bux with the perfectest (don't laugh, Shakespeare used it all the time), sets being offered for just under and the ones needing some work, anywhere from 3-400. up. Actually someone on Toronto CL was selling single seats for 25. ea. I'm sure this was an isolated incident but it happens.
Offer less, but of course if you love it, go for it.

Just hand her the crop
and admit that you've been naughty. Very naughty.

good for you
Chris M,
That looks like a very nice set for a price that satisfies you. Do not concern yourself with those who "rain on your parade".
"One time a person told me that someone down the street was selling product for less than me. I asked the customer why he did not buy it from them. He told me that they did not have any at the moment. To which I replied that when we were out of stock ours was even less".
I believe the point is that yours the price for a product that was available when you wanted it. Congratulations on your acquisition.

that is
an acceptable price to pay. Although they look cool, they are really not that comfortable.

That's
about the going rate for a decent set in the UK.
The Army used to have these in the officer's messes in the 60s/70s apparently.
They got rid of them when too many officer's wives tipped the chairs whilst reaching for their handbags on the floor. (true story)

I foolishly didn't buy a similar set, but with six chairs (four legged) and the table with the leaf. It was $1500 and I should have bought it just to flip it. They are going for over $3000 these days.
Have to say, I have seen these dining sets become extremely popular and going for a lot of money lately, and I just don't get it. I understand it is clever that the chairs fit into the table, but does that really offer such a great advantage? And I don't think either the table or the chairs are especially stylish. Am I missing something?

Overall I think its quite handsome but I hear what you're saying about the function and the chairs as an actual sitting experience. Perhaps people just like it because its tidy?
Or whats more likely is that its just one of those fashionable things to have and besides so few people seem to have an independant sense of taste they can be confident in these days, not to be rude just opinionated 🙂

Heath - I do think it's a nice looking set - but when I think of all the dining tables and chairs out there you could get for 3-4K, that would be fairly low on my list. Maybe it's because I think there is something about sets of any type that I don't like.

.
In agreement, the panties with matching sofa brigade must have the 3 piece suite, its just so boring.
I was looking through that Taschen 50/60/70's series last night and there is so much good stuff that doesn't get a look in.

Personally
I like the matching panties, but he never seems to notice ;}
But yeah, I hear y'all on the matchy matchy if one looks good let's buy the other two ...
jdip - I have flipped several of these sets but the thrill is gone and it's the four legged chair that sells a tad quicker. I like the "oh, the chairs just seem to disappear look" but to the MCM aesthete it's almost dull.
Luckily most of my friends are academic geeks who wouldn't know if they were sitting on a Wegner or a wagon wheel so my acquisitions are just for me now.
