Hallingdal fabric for primary sofa? Is it comfortable?

I'm leaning towards purchasing the Climate sofa, made by Dune, as the main sofa for our living room. (If you're not familiar with it, it's in an updated version of a Florence Knoll-y style but with more comfortable dimensions for lounging.)

I have looked at a lot of fabrics and my favorite looks-wise, when combined with consideration of its perceived durability, is the famous Hallingdal from Kvadrat.

I have a dog who does not stay off the furniture, and a 6-month old son, so durability is important to me.

My mother-in-law, who is in the trade and so is our designer, says this fabric seems hard and scratchy to her and she would choose something softer.

Anyone agree with her? For a sofa that will be my apartment's primary sofa, would you think Hallingdal would be too hard and uncomfortable?

Do you think Kvadrat's Tonus is any better for this purpose? And would you think that this would be durable enough to withstand our relatively large dog jumping up on it all the time? (I initially nixed Tonus because it didn't seem as sturdy as Hallingdal, but it does seem softer.) Any other ideas for fabrics with similar design appeal that may be better for me?

Yes
I have had it on my sofa and easy chair for some time now, and I am very happy with it.
I have seen several other pieces of furniture upholstered in much older Hallingdal and the fabric seems to hold up very well. It is 25 percent heavier than Tonus, and twice as resistant to abrasion. I find it very comfortable and not hard at all. It may be a bit scratchy, but this hasn't bothered me. Unless you lounge with very little clothes on, I would probably recommend it over Tonus.
I say probably because I haven't seen your sofa. I do think Hallingdal looks fabulous on almost anything, but for a Florence Knoll-like model a slightly smoother, softer fabric might be an even better choice. Even so, I don't think you can go wrong with Hallingdal.

Thanks very much for your hel...
Thanks very much for your helpful thoughts, Gustaf. Below is a link to a tear sheet for the proposed sofa, so you can see what I'm talking about. I think a softer smoother fabric (for example, as shown in this picture) would look great, frankly. Although I am currently tending towards something tweedier or more textured partly because it will be better at disguising the hair from my dog that will unfortunately be all over the sofa a lot of the time. Sticking with Kvadrat names for the moment, I was tempted by something like the Divina Melange, but was worried about the durability of the fabric relative to the pooch. Also would love the look of a soft ultra-suedey fabric, but hair sticks to that like nobody's business. I considered boucle as well but thought that might snag, and maybe would look too "period". Of course any further thoughts would be more than welcome.

Gustaf--
I must say, your sofa's DREAMY. Love the fabric and the design. Who's the designer?

Nice sofa.
I agree on the Divina Melange. Having seen your sofa, I do think a tweedier textured fabric like Hallingdal would look really good. One of the multicolored variants would probably disguise dog hairs particularly well.
William, thanks. The sofa is designed by Norway Says, a Norwegian design group. I like their work. This is the Ugo.

About the dog...
We had a dog who loved to sneak up onto the sofa all the time. Finally solved the problem by giving her a very cushy, comfy, foam-stuffed bed of her own on the floor.
I have a strong aversion to pet hair on furniture and to sitting on pet hair so this was a major breakthrough in our house.
