HELP. Wondering if my cord is too thick?  

I think my question is mainly for Spanky. I ordered a spool of the laced danish cord- 1/8" from Franks Cane and Supply. After spending HOURS trying to weave our first chair my husband and I are almost positive we received the wrong cord. We finally arrived to the side to side weaving and can barely weave 3 rows. The cord leaves huge gaps and cannot be placed in aligned rows. I'm wondering if we received the 3/16" cord by accident. Our receipt says 1/8" but I saw that there is a larger diameter available on the website and ours measures significantly larger than 1/8". After reading all your posts I did not think this should be this difficult, especially for my husband who is a woodworker. I have emailed Franks and I'm hoping they can exchange.
