Please help! (newbie)
I just purchased this sideboard from eBay and even though the seller guarantees 100% the maker, i need a second opinion as it has no makers mark.
There is a link to images of the sideboard. Any suggestions as to what maker it is would be really appreciated. Thanks.

It was listed as Merrow Associates ?
Personally, I haven't seen this model of sideboard attributed to Merrow Associates before, but the cabinet that was also sold alongside had all the hallmarks of a Merrow Associates piece.
They never marked their pieces, and I think these (if they are Merrow) were probably contract pieces...(the teak is less successful than their usual rosewood in my opinion)

HELP! Identifying who made this sideboard
Thanks very much for the info. The item was listed as being by David Falker for Merrow Associates, so it's good to know you thought it could be by Merrow. The seller has confirmed 100% that this is the case but all I have is his word without any actual evidence to back it up and don't quite know what to do now.
I bought the piece because it was by a known maker and now I have no providence for it.

I've taken another look
I've taken another look at the cabinet, and would say 100% that it is Merrow Associates..so the sideboard must be
Have you asked the seller how who knows who actually designed it? (there were 3 members of Merrow Associates, as well as another designer involved)
Very few of their designs are catalogued (yet)..but I'm sure in time they will be.
(My uncle worked for them during the 60s and 70s, so I have a head start as it were)

I'm puzzled when
I'm puzzled when you say 'you don't know what to do now' ?
Did you expect the piece to be marked or labelled somehow, why didn't you ask the seller prior to the end of the auction ?

The item was listed as being...
The item was listed as being by David Falker for Merrow Associates so I presumed (maybe wrongly) that this could be proved in some way and didn't question it (hindsight is a great thing). If the seller had listed it with "probably is by" or "in my professional opinion it is by", then I wouldn't have a problem and would have known but I feel the seller mis-sold the item as the only evidence he could provide was his opinion. The difficulty would come if I were to sell the piece as all I could say was "the guy who sold it to me told me it was by Merrow".

I see your dilemma.............
Have you asked him why he thinks it is by David Falker in particular ?
Remember though that no Merrow pieces are marked.

Hello Boden..
Although i understand your concerns re. the designer,it is also the buyers option to check an item(s ) authentication before making a bid isnt it?, especially if you have bought it to sell on. As long as your happy with it though?.Are we talking vast amounts of money that was paid for it?.

Thanks to Vivienne
for yet again saying what i was thinking ;o)
The cabinet was sold by the same seller at the same time..
It's build is exactly that of Merrow pieces..I have no doubt it is Merrow
I was surprised it didn't go for more..but like I said..the rosewood pieces are far more successful in my mind
Rosewood and chrome is sooo much nicer than rosewood and teak

Robert..
Take more water with it honey.. I agree that darker wood looks better with chrome as i think it needs the contrast.Re. Bodens sideboard, its definitely not my cup of tea but i think it looks good and he or she got a nice thing.

Too early even for me Vivienne..
Yes, it's a nice looking piece of funiture
A rosewood one would probably have been 4 times as much too. 🙂
