Guys... What do ya think about Marc Newson?? I think he's great!! (Link)
Strangely... I asked some Australian design lovers about him, and not many of them know him (??)

Also I think he uses good materials, e.i. aluminium, marble... I don't think he has ever used PVC... Any thoughts?

I think his Felt and Orgone...
I think his Felt and Orgone chair are amazing, eventhough I don't like "plastic" that much. I would love to try sitting in his Embryo chair, it doesn't look good for the back but I'm hoping to be positively surprised.

he's ok
I don't love his work. I like a few pieces rather well, but a lost of it seems too form OVER function to me ... a little showy and a little contemporary. That's just me.
I prefer the Bouroullecs and, sometimes, Marcel Wanders.

I liked his hair in the 90s.

The black hole table is well named
and not in a good way. The holes seem like a great place to lose: wedding rings, car keys, spare change...etc etc etc. He's cute as a button but the 90's just called and they want their hair back...

But -- but --
Aren't you impressed that he's won "many official awards" ? [emoticon showing rolling of eyes]

designdictionary.co.uk needs an editor...
His production is characterised by amazing combinations of imaginative hyperbole organised in rigorous technical run-on sentences and who can forget his fascinating, mysterious Pod of Drawers.
Who writes this drivel? Those same monkeys with typewriters currently working on the great American novel? Sheesh! These people must be on LSD!

Maybe
he wrote that stuff himself ?
This guy's been at it for a while: the Black Hole table dates to 1988 ?
[The crit of that piece is quite apt, unless those holes are only shallow divots !]

Divots you say?
Then shouldn't it be called the "black divot table" ? Oh enuf already, I'm just jealous of all that hair.

Who can forget..
his mysterious pod of drawers?...me. As i said previously i like this chap (or at least his hair in the 90s) but will someone ask him to be less prolific, i reckon he would attend the opening of an envelope for the publicity.

I could not agree more...
with James Collins. Just for the fun of it, click on products and choose the top one 2CV Citroën...and you will see how knowledgeable these people are...it makes me wonder if the picture shown is in fact Marc Newson....or is it the famous "traction avant" of Citroën.

Would you hire a Manatee to design a toilet seat?
Not that I'm comparing that to Marc Newsome, that would be an insult to the manatee (god I hope he doesn't read this blog) ((again, I'm referring of course to the manatee))
At least maybe not call yourself a "Designer" but rather a "Sculpter" or even "Artist"

.
I hadn't seen that before.
At least there's a companion piece to the "sensual, extensive, luminous (?) chair (?) with rounded shapes called Lockheed Lounge" . . .
No one should confuse the lovely Traction Avant with the lovably ugly (?) 2CV -- but they did. Oof. (Never saw a TA in that interesting teal-turquoise before. . .)
