Great mid century design from Israel?

Really like this thing, but does anyone have any idea what the background might be on something like this? Design looks like it may be older than 1950s.

I really never hear or read about older design from Israel.

nice, some friends parents have some great kibbutz pottery I've always covteted, might be a starting point to do some reseacrh in Israeli craft and design.

can't be too much older than the 50s, Israel's only been around since '48...
