Thanks !

What is it about the Pappa Bear?
I really don't get it! 5 years ago when I worked in the auction houses in Denmark the pappas went for around $600. A year or two later they were about double. And now your lucky to get one under $5000. It just keeps rising. Why!

Perhaps eBay auction buyers have more money than experience ?

Queer
...that this chair's so sought-after. It's rather inelegant and top-heavy, and the ottoman doesn't relate well to the chair. The outstretched arms make me think of a sleepwalker.

The
"cantilevered" arm allows more different body positions, as I understand it.
Wouldn't you want to reupholster this set if you bought it ? How much would that cost ? Chips and dents in the legs, a loose leg on the footstool. . .
At least I don't see a cigarette burn on an arm !
Are these very rare ?

papa bear
It's an awkward thing to look at, initially. Almost a clunker, but not quite; it takes time to get into it, I think, which makes it more interesting in a way.

finch i agree, as most ...
finch i agree, as most know i have a large collection of chairs, and for some reason I really never wanted that chair,
I love Wegners other things and i know he is most famous for the Papa Bear Chair, but it just throws me back to some type of Early American the folks would have in the early 60s by accident, (the ones who could care less about modern furniture back then but had a few danish pieces thrown in with the early American wing back chairs) To each his own,
