I've just decided I want a Girard upholstered shell. Was never really into them but the quirky-bug has bitten me and now I think it would be nice to have a...quirky upholstered shell on a contract/no caster base. MY QUESTION, is that if I can't find an all original one, which isn't a must necessarily, which version (glued or "corded") is easiest to have reupholstered?
Thanks in advance.
Does not matter either ...
Does not matter either shell has to be re foamed, glue sprayed and fabric affixed to the foam. The Girard fabric can be purchased from Maharam as they sell around 15 Girard fabrics.
You can purchase Eames Herman miller shells anywhere. Then you need to find a upholstery shop that can but the fabric on for around $275.00, check the Internet as you can find shops that do that on the web.
Thanks LRF...
for the helpful info., good to know. Looks like there is a place in Tulsa that does nice work. The reupholstery route seems like it might be the best route...easiest at least; although I'd rather reupholster a chair in it's original configuration instead of piecemealing a shell, here, base here, upholstery here...
