Hi all.

I just picked up a great Thurston tripod lamp - sans shade. I've been scouring the boards and net looking for a replacement (which I really didn't expect to find very easily) to no avail.

Am I destined to just have a custom replacement made? Does anybody have any recommendations on a reasonably priced maker? I've gotten one quote back so far from random places I found online ($259!). Crazy I thought for a simple thin tapered drum shade. Maybe I should just make one?

Here's a pick of the new lamp. and a link to one I found with a shade. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Nice...
I had a similar problem, it took me over a year to find just the right one or at least one that looked right. If you're in the U.S., check out lampsplus.com. I saw some that may work, it's tough finding a short drum shade without paying top dollar. Hope this helps.

custom
Going the custom route. I have no patience anymore, and if I didn't find a shade within a month, the lamp probably would have migrated to the storage black hole. Nasty place with little chance for escape. LOL.
I ordered through Fenshelshades.com on Sunday. The shade will ship tmrw.! I'll post up pics when it arrives. Was waaaaaay cheaper than anywhere else. If they live up to their name with this custom shade; I'll be a repeat client for sure.

Will do
Certainly will! I'll check out your place too.
I was a bit surprised at the price I found Fenshel could do a custom shade for. I called them directly Monday to make sure my directios were clear enough, and to get a personal feel for them. They were super friendly and actually saved me $5 on their fast-pass program. Told me to save my money unless one day production time was a big deal. Lol.
Can't wait to see the shade!

Have a similar lamp in need of a shade. How much are they charging you for one if you don't mind me asking.

here she is ...
The lamp shade came in Saturday. Looks like I found a winner! I think I could have gone with a bit more rustic textured linen, but I'm loving it as is.
Tell me what you guys think!

looks great
So as i mentioned, I havea very similar lamps...table and floor versions that are in need of the same shades. Was that made locally or did you send away for it? Thinking maybe I can get it done at the same place as the price was right.

GL ,,,,
Good luck J. They were very nice to talk to on the phone and sounded like they would work up just about anything if they can.
I'll be ordering another shade from them in a few days for my newest GT lamp find. They can't make a diffuser, but I'm already working on that. 🙂
Let us know how yours turn out!
