It's been awhile and I hope that everyone is having a good year, thus far.  My question is related to this particular lounge that we just acquired.  When was it produced?  Was this version for residential or contract?  I begin the restoration process shortly and I can not wait to place it in front of our fireplace.  Blessings

What is the best foam to use for comfort?  Any suggestions on the fabric?
I have a bolt of Irving Harpers pavers in sandstone, however, would this be to busy? We just reupholstered our Knoll couch in melange and are leaning to do the same with the cushions for this Nelson piece.  Any thoughts?  Blessings
BTW, Knoll couch before and after completed by dynasty upholstery in Los Angeles:

I would be inclined to keep the fabric plain/solid.
Crowning the cushion a little will bring some additional comfort, but keep it nice and tight-

The first photo looks like George Nelson's steel frame seating group for Herman Miller,  Timeframe was 1950-59.

I think the "Pavement" fabric would look good on the sofa itself--dunno about overall look in the room.
If you want the most comfortable feel for the foam, go with latex, not urethane foam.  Latex costs more but it's worth it.  (You could just do it on the seat if cost is a factor.)  It is more resilient than urethane foam and will not develop hollows over time.  I can't tell you what density is best---depends on the webbing and your personal preference.  But just know that the firmest is pretty firm!  And soft is really soft--best suited for back cushions only.
(Make sure that the back cushions are done in a softer density whichever foam you go with.  If they're the same density as the seat, they will feel too firm because most of your weight is on the seat cushion.  But your upholsterer will already know this.  They do a great job, by the way!)
