I am looking at a GN HM spool clock. It has a double A battery in the back and the 2239 serial no. The original sticker is on the front. Before I splurge on this beautiful clock, I am wondering if battery-operated means that this clock is newer and therefore worth less? This is a lot of money for me to spend, and I dont want to make a mistake! Thanks so much for any advice.
This clock was
available three ways; electric, battery and 8-day wind.
But the vintage battery pack would've been made for a C battery, so it looks like your clock had a new motor put in.
Depending on the price, get it!
Whenever I buy a vintage clock, if it doesn't work, I take it in for repair and my guy will replace the non-working motor, so don't worry 'bout it.
The only issue, if it's being sold as original vintage with a working vintage motor, then that might not be kosher.
