You ARE from souther England aren't you?
I knew it paulanna, but don't feel insecure about coming from an environment with a crappy climate populated by chinless people without a sense of humour.
Meanwhile, down here in Australia we are all terribly insecure, because it's such a pitiful, cultural void, that's miles away from the really IMPORTANT cultures of Europe.
I'm worried for you Paulanna, i really am, because you might be getting yourself into an intellectual battle in which you are woefully unarmed. It will be a little like the USA taking on Fiji, and you I'm afraid paulanna are looking a little Fijian at the moment (albeit without the wonderful tan and the lovely smiles). There I go again, pulling out those stereotypes. Spank me paulanna, spank me hard. You Brits are into that, no?
And thanks for reminding me that this forum is the equivalent to a Mensa convention. I mean, in a world wracked by war, famine and disease, a f*&cking wooden chair is what really matters.

You have quite an angry, disrespectful, fragile and insecure approach Stephen, your psychology is painfully transparent and frankly embarrasing.
Everyone here has their faults, myself included, but for the most part we all get along quite well, why do you write such horrible things? It upsets everyone.
Please tone down your vitriol, embrace a little modesty or don't post at all.
Perhaps it would benefit your career to open your eyes more, you seem to live in a box, truck drivers who read Steinbeck and waitresses with phds are not uncommon, emigre artists, visiting fellows...there is so much happening beyond this small life and vile 'swagger' you cultivate.
I expect that you probably attack me and so be it, I've only ever tried to suggest to you that as a journalist you should behave a little more profesionally, but you won't listen, to anyone.
There is one thing that humility gives people, respect, something I suspect you're terribly short of.

Heath my darling
Heath sweetheart. I wouldn't ever attack you. You are a gorgeous human being. In fact, evolution would have been headed backwards until you came along. Seriously, we could have all ended up swinging from trees again. Then you came along. Sigh...it's times like this I wish i were gay.

Paulanna, beloved, Heath ...
Paulanna, beloved, Heath your eloquence amazes me
and all three said it very nicely to Stephen,
Stephen my boy i am disappointed in you, cause i think you have some smarts to you and can be humorous ,
This by no means is a stuck up crowd or at all stiff shirted, they like what the forum says Design, and they just might be Design addicts like my self, so when you make a mockery of what one likes we all become defensive,
Nakashima is not my favorite but to write, and you apologized for your remarks that he sucks, even thoe you are entitled to your opion it just sorta stinks a bit,I think what the three are trying to say tactfulness never hurt anyone, and that is from any part of the world.
We have a lot of smart people here,
I think most of us park are University degrees on our walls and very few say we are Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT or Oxford, Cambridge, some write better than others, some hold jobs in Industry,Education, arts, and some are Entrepreneurs .
So the bottom line no one likes to come off as a jerk .
I know i don't and i have said Jerky things that i regret, but to have ones respect in a Universal forum, is far better than, coming off as the Village idiot.

Stephen and Mary Ann Scott...
Stephen and Mary Ann Scott would make a lovely couple, she could dictate her thoughts and Stephen could pen them, a collaborated effort.

Yes let's move on and let...
Yes let's move on and let bygones be bygones. In fact I'd love to read your book Stephen but it seems to be out of print. Such a pity when obvious genius falls into obscurity. Publishers are such a hard hearted lot aren't they? Always thinking about the money. I know because I've got a couple of books out myself with a third I need to deliver to my publishers by September. I'm sure they'll get deleted from the lists as soon as they stop selling though - luckily my first book just went into a US edition with a paperback edition soon so I'm Ok for the time being. They're only history books anyway (best my pygmy intellect could manage) so really of little account compared to a novel, even one so indifferently and I'm sure unfairly reviewed. Not likely to get runner up in an parochial literary award either, which is a profound disappointment. Best keep quiet about it really. But you have my sympathy Stephen, really, you do.

Good one,
James. Yes, an obvious reference to Nakashima, I'd say. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ?
You know you've hit the big time when the "department stores" knock you off ! (See "carnival glass" vs Tiffany Glass. . .)
Well-written vituperation is certainly an improvement on the standard-variety mudslinging, isn't it ? English ain't dead after all ! But [ahem] enough, already, hmm ?

If you would rather keep it private I understand but congratulations regardless.
