I picked up this chair a few weeks ago for $10 at an estate sale and I absolutely love it! I was wondering if anyone knew if it was designed by George Mulhauser? I hope so but either way I still love this chair!

Thanks! I assumed it was but I'm no expert. Right now it's subbing as a computer chair but it's not very practical for that. Now if I can just find somewhere to put this thing!

?
are you sure that is Plycraft? I don't think it is. Is that wood veneer on the base or is it laminate? Looks like laminate to me.
The plycraft base does look like that but it is wood veneer.

Then it is not Plycraft...
Then it is not Plycraft because the base is all metal with a fake wood-grain effect. Definitely not veneer.

Im late to the party...
but that base definitely does not look like something made by Plycraft. I dont ever recall seeing a Plycraft chair with a base that looks quite like yours, especially with a wood laminate over metal.
I could swear I commented in a previous post a couple of months ago where someone posted a picture of the same chair.

The pictures not in the post anymore, but I'm pretty sure it was the same chair.

Would of love to have seen...
Would of love to have seen their chair so I could compare it. I'm assuming it's some sort of knock off from around the same time period. It's a pretty comfortable chair and I like it but the metal laminate base does bother me a bit. It was done well so it's hard to tell from a distance what it is at least.

Yes at $10 it definitely was...
Yes at $10 it definitely was a score! The Heywood Wakefield desk in the background I got from the same estate sale and I paid $20 for it. I hope all my future purchases are as thrifty.
