I have today purchased what i thought was a genuine Noguchi coffee table.
All dimensions, glass thickness seem fine.
There is no signature or plate, but I was told this was because it is pre-2003. It is unused and still in its box (no name of company, etc).
My problem is with the connecting rod which is not the aluminium dowel with 4 steel pins I have seen in genuine tables.
This is a hollow, black steel rod with four sets of two pins - which looks like the one indicated in this Italian copy:

It's not looking good,I know.
I'm just inquiring whether there was ever a Herman Miller/Vitra genuine version that used this type of connector or whether the genuine table ALWAYS has the aluminium/steel connector.
Thanks,
Tony

noguchi
I had a very similar pin in a noguchi table that turned out to be a knock off. The seller found his original sales slip from Palazzetti nyc. All the dimensions were the same and great glass. The pin had me questioning it too. I found out Palazzetti wasn't a dealer but rather had been (still are) knocking off Herman Miller and many others designs. They have been sued multiple times. Sales slip was from 92. If he didn't come up with slip, I probably would have though the pin was replace because everything else look right. Don't know if this helps you. Cheers.
