I suggest emailing them again, maybe from a different address, and say you're interested in purchasing the lamp. Once someone replies, ask your questions. If you'd like, I'd be happy to call the seller and find out what is wrapped around the base. Just post a link.

I'm sorry I can't help with the lamp but I would love to have a giant old windmill outside my window.
Where I live in the US they are installing these new, giant wind mills (or turbines) and they look like something right out of War of the Worlds - an invading monster race of evil machines. The sound they make only amplifies the eerie effect.

Your memory has not failed you! My boyfriend and I both use this account to post - he is Australian, I am American. We currently live in the Eastern US.
Your lamp looks very cool. Also love the additional windmill photo though I'm not surprised you also have some War of the Worlds windmill creeping in - they want to put them anywhere there is enough wind to make is viable/valuable. Standing underneath one gave me the creeps - do not want! By contrast I love the charm of the old windmill, probably someone in 150 years will feel the same about the current alien wind turbine overlords.
