Green emotionally neutral? Not to me.
Its been said its emotionally neutral.....? Yes, people say that, but not to me.
The point is that I think there is no absolutely emotionally neutral situation.
White? Isn't white more emotionally neutral?
But as SDR said, wich white? It,s seems to be easier with with. But I heard that in a dyer, they can identify 56 different kinds of blacks!
oops, was this about emotionally neutral or this is the ....green....thread?
Maybe Green isn't so
much emotionally neutral but rather we might just take it for granted as it is so much all around us. Walk outside, plants, trees, grass, it may also be one of the first colors we become aware of as children, or so it would seem, because of its prevalence. Personally, I love it and after 4 attempts did my dining room in Behr's "Corn Husk Green".
Color as shown in
this thread and the one on Blue or painting a dining room is clearly something that evokes a highly personal response. One thing that does seem to be certain is no reaction is ever neutral, indifferent to a particular color maybe, but neutral, hardly.
It seems to point up the fact that color in an environment is a big part of that environment, be it the objects themselves and their relevant colors or their context to the larger environment and the color with which that environment presents itself.
Something beyond mere shape, form and function with color as perhaps a part of an objects "essence". I can't believe for a moment that any of the designers much beloved on this forum didn't think very deeply about color with the notable exception of the color of an object as a result of the material used in its fabrication like bent plywood. Again, that's most likely a deliberate choice as there is always paint to change up the visual.
I am all about the Green
There IS a reason my nom de forum is Olive ya knbow 😉 The ONLY green tone I can't seem to love are forest and kelly. They remind me too much of traditional interiors and a really horrible dress my mother made me wear on holiday way way back when...
I have so much green in my life yet it all works together and it all soothes me...a green space is a happy space...
I second the endorsement for green
Our dining room is the previously mentioned Corn Husk Green, very soothing and inviting. Guest bedroom is Ben Moores Camo, another pale green and the exterior is Ben Moores Sussex Green which is a real deep olive like green which roots the whole house into the land and helps knock down some of the mass from the street.
In fact the exterior color is so well suited to the surrounding flora that the outside edges or corners of the house seem to disappear into the landscape. This ability is kind of cool as when someone comes into the house for the first time they are quite suprised at the overall square footage, but from the street, it's a little low slung ranch.
