Hi Guys,
I'm clearing out my Gran's house who has passed away. I was very close to her and want her furniture to be sold fairly - I know she had some Ercol and am trying to work out who this desk is by - any ideas? I thought it was G Plan but I'm doubting myself. The grain is very contrasty which I've not really seen on many items. I can't find any labelling either - does anyone know if there is a specific place where a label on a writing desk may be hiding? Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

it seems to me the finish is...
it seems to me the finish is laminate (printed plastic) and not wood.
if it is, it's a (very) cheap production.
that's why the contrast looks so heavy, in grain.

Schreiber
The bureau is made by Schreiber, and finished in teak effect plastic veneers. Not the same quality as Ercol or G Plan and worth very little I'm afraid.

thanks both - that's so helpful.
you're right about it being cheaply made! It is thin!
