Well, the title says it all. I am hunting and pecking my way through Europe trying to find little nuggets of goodness. This will be an ongoing project so it should bring forth some interesting finds from time to time.

For example, two weekends ago, at a very rustic brocante fair up in the mountains above Evian, I found this lamp. It looks like Christian Dell, no?

The shade is bronze, the base and arm are wood. Did Christian Dell ever do anything in wood?

your new home
Riki,
I have always found that lamps, seating, and tables are the easy part. What do you have in mind for beds?
I saw from your post on the other thread that you are very, very, very old so you can probably fall asleep easily on a large bag of Swiss 1000 franc notes. Since you are design person you may choose a much larger bag of the Le Corbusier 10 franc notes (this is a joke and I threw in the last "very" for good measure).
I do truly want to know your thoughts on beds.

Beds are the bane
of my existence over here. There's really one choice, platform beds with less-than-ideal mattresses.
When we moved here from the US, I shipped over 3 cool beds and 3 new Westin Heavenly Bed mattresses plus US-sized bedding to fit the California Kings. But, I had a whole 40-foot container so that was easy peasy.
The answer is, I don't know. I might design something my self and either make it or have it made, but that doesn't address the issue of the crappy mattresses.

No one is helping
Riki,
I must be the only guy who is interested in your new home. I find it hard to believe that all those with so many opinions do not have any suggestions for you.
I do not know if you are as big a fan of Poul Kjærholm for Fritz Hansen as me. My holdings are two (2) PK 20's, two (2) PK 22's, one (1) PK33, one (1) PK71, one (1) PK80, and two (2) PK91's. Is this series easier to find at better pricing in your location? My opinion is that this would great in anyones home and very special in yours.
I do not resent that you have found a new home and I remain interested in your acquisitions and progress.

there was a thread about exactly this- furnishing an alpine chalet with mid-century and modern furnishings.
I've looked and looked but can't find it 🙁

Ah!
that's the one, I thought I have searched 'rustic'
No idea why I thought it was so long ago. ..
other than the onset of senility.

Maybe the title says it all? Not clear what you are asking.
Any architectural style presented empty can be a blank slate for
furnishing however you want. You seem to like shopping and have
the time. And i believe you will collect and decorate they way you want
and have a grand time doing it.
May appear to be boasting but sounds like it is more about lifestyle and
where you like to spend your time. A swiss chalet is at the bottom of my list
of desires ; ). You will give it some value quality finds. That is the fun part.
Please share your experience. All that you acquire is what interest me.
Is it one of these?

Ostwald
pretty much corners the market, with regards to "Modern Swiss Chalet". Hansel would be proud.
