thanks!
I don't think anything is missing, I'm just not sure what the original purpose was, I'm curious as to why there is a drawer at one end - like a bedside table?
I'll check Hvidt designs again, I have been through furniture index, all my books etc... with no luck! Does anyone have a book on france & son? where can I get one!
At first I thought they may be by Peter Hvidt or Ole Wanscher.
They are curious designs, square legs with no shaping or taper to the table top very unlike Peter Hvidt.
Is the surface elevated from the frame on brass details?
It may turn out that they are in house France & Son designs.
OK, trawled the net & found this table attributed to peter Hvidt
I've asked them where they got the info from, Hope they are right!!

I bought one of these myself
Ironically, I bought one of these tables at an antique market yesterday. It's a first for me as I am not a collector or antiques expert; I just saw a table in passing that I thought was interesting and said to myself "I must have this". I had no idea what I was buying - the dealer mentioned "France & Son" which meant nothing to me, but I thought I would start some internet research...leading me here. New home owner here, and I've started to buy furniture before even moving in (I know, I'm trying to keep that under control!). Anyway, now it looks like the illness has begun and this one table will begin a quest for companion pieces and for knowledge. Anyone have any suggestions where to start? I am located in Canada (Toronto/Hamilton areas).
