France & Son end table - which designer is correct?  

It may be a Grete Jalk design for France & Son. I definitely don't want to come off like a snob about it though.

Looks very shiny. An oil (perhaps with wax) finish would be more appropriate for this piece.
(Edit: the edit function is nice, where you can alter the contents of a post making subsequent posts not make any sense. I usually use the edit function to correct typos or rotate photos. In cases where I am changing the contents or correcting myself, I will either add a new post, or include an edit note at the bottom of the original - like this one)

You're right about the finish but when I got it it had already been varnished and that had darkened with dirt & age, and of course the varnish has soaked into the wood so stripping it back wouldn't have given it a good surface for oil-only - I'm not very experienced with restoration but I don't fancy putting oil onto previously varnished wood without a deep strip back - and then hoping it looks ok.
Originality aside, I actually prefer it to the darker finish (though I wouldn't do this again if the wood was only oiled). It now has a hard clear varnish finish that has brought out the golden colours. It's not one for the purest, I'm sure, but it's a beautiful design and now has a more up to date finish.
If/when I come to sell it I hope it'll appeal to somebody for what it is: a gorgeous design with a history and character unique to this one piece.

Interesting, I've never seen a France & Son piece that was stamped with a date before.
