I found four (4) black armless Eero Saarinen Tulip Chairs from Knoll International at my local Goodwill store. They were each marked with a tag in the original houndstooth tweed cushions that said $5 - As is. Took them as they were for $20 and went my merry way.
Sorry - Love that story.
Question posed is:
Where/what is the best and easiest way to appraise these chairs? Mine have moderate wear since they were made around the late sixties early seventies... Is is possible to get the finish refurbished? And Finally - The only examples of these chairs I see are white with red cushions. Mine are black wth yellow cushions - and since the Knoll stickers are still on I'm pretty sure they've never been painted. Is that rare?
Thanks for the help. Hope you like that story.
great find
I have seen the yellow seats before so although I don't think this is the norm I know there are some out there.

On refurbishing...
Tks for your reply - By this point I've seen black armchair tulips in Knoll artwork but still no armless. Wondering if the white were more predominatly made. Does this effect value?
My chairs have a few scratches and nicks in the plastic coating that covers the cast aluminum base and fiberglass shell top. I saw someone in this forum suggest auto body repair shops for refurbishing but I can't see that as a viable option. Any other suggestions?
I'm including a link to an Ebay auction in the UK for 4 Tulip Chairs. 3 armless 1 armchair. I'm going to post a pic of my chairs in comparison and see if I can get someone in here to give me a rough estimate on how much they're worth.
I would love to keep them forever but...
