Thanks, Spanky! The photos...
Thanks, Spanky! The photos look much color saturated on my girlfriend's computer, guess I have an old monitor. Hope it look alright on yours. Well, I surely couldn't imagine living anywhere else than here in Germany's backyard. It's been a fantastic summer. Have you ever been to the indoors fleamarket in Bella Center or perhaps Forum?
do ya'll got a hound dog named Bullet?
You look good, Lunchbox.
Best,
Aunt Mark
ps. (sensible fashion tip)...Dogs, cornstarch and a shade tree can be a husky mans best friend.
(edited to add the word "ya'll"). And as mentioned to me years ago by a lovely Southern gal, the plural of Ya'll is Ya'll.
Hi.
Martin, no--
just the one in Fredriksberg a few times and I think one near a castle in Copenhagen...? And one in Fredensborg where we lived for a year during the 275th anniversary of the town. I only heard about that one later in the day and went right over and got a few things, took them home and then went back again! I was not so into mid-century design yet so I don't even know what I missed there. I did go to a few other sales. It was kind of odd to see how things were arranged---all of the glass on one table, all of the wood things on another, all lamps in one place. Here it's usually not that well organized but I guess that is the Danish mindset at work!
I was so tempted to go to auctions but I knew that with my terrible grasp of Danish numbers I would not know if I was bidding 50 cents on something or 500 dollars. I can count to 29 but after that I am completely lost.
Also had fun checking out the Genbrug shops. I need to go back.
guns and vintage and antiques
I grew up surrounded by and immersed in mid-century design (my father is an Architect who worked at TAC in Cambridge thus my chosen forum name) so I recognize it (and occasionally buy it) since it is so familiar to me.
I actually own a lot more hand-made antique pieces (mid-19th century and before) than I do the mid-20th century factory made pieces that are typically discussed in this forum. I get the mid-century aesthetic and love the clean lines and interesting geometric games. But overall I seem to prefer the humanity of things that are hand-made from solid wood, and thus the appeal to me of 18th to early 19th century objects.
I hate guns, because they are designed for killing people and nothing pisses me off as much as people thinking they have the right to kill other people (whether that is armies or drones or drive-by shootings). Wars really, really, really piss me off. Thanks to the US's rediscovered love of war, that unfortunately means I'm pissed off a lot when I make the mistake of paying attention to what we're doing to the rest of the world.
