I wonder if anyone recognizes this table base. The owner wishes to identify it. Advice was given as to an elliptical glass top. . .

just wondering
if the plural of leaf is leaves,
why isn't the plural of motif motives?

. . .Because leaf is Middle English, and motif is French ? An alternate of motif is motive, but the former term is specific to art, music and literature. So, the (English) plural of motive is motives, while the (French) plural of motif is motifs.
