A few questions regarding:

Original walnut credenza by Florence knoll for sale.
Many here are very knowledgable on vintage furnishings and pricing and so I'd like to ask is $2995. a fair price for one in good condition?

My neighbors have a similar credenza, both are 71" length with file cabinet, drawers and such inside.
Does walnut come in various tones?
I ask as my neighbors piece appears to be perfect color, not to red, unlike the one I may purchase seen online but have yet to see in person.
I'm concerned it could be to red in color and haven't a clue whether other knoll credenzas exist in the tone I prefer. He's a reputable dealer too.
Thanks for helpful input!

Walnut naturally can be a variety of tones (and then there are other species of walnut beyond the usual Black Walnut, which can have tones of their own).
In general 'reddish' is not a tone associated with walnut. Deep dark brown to a creamy lighter brown is the usual range. I've seen some with streaks that was slightly purple if you catch it in the right light.
I can think of two reasons for a reddish tone:
A: bleached and stained walnut can be made very nearly identical to teak color, which could explain the reddishness.
B: UV exposure can lighten walnut and teak to about the same yellowish orange color. This might be described as reddish.
Absent photos it is impossible to say. And even photos can lie.
