Hi all,
a couple of weeks ago I came across this chair on a local fleamarket. Not knowing who designed it or who made it, other than the info on the back mark, I managed to get it for 17 euros and walked away with a smile. Once home I started looking for some more info based on said back mark. I found out Sicre Jeune still exists and I was stoked to find out some of the history of the company. Thing is though, I had this nagging feeling I had seen this chair before. It reminded me of some of Pierre Paulins' designs and after little research I found some people selling my exact chair as a armchair version of the CM 190.
The plaque on the back could be a giveaway that Sicre Jeune actually made this chair. However it says "installateur" which could mean they just sold furniture and decorated... I did ask them but no reply.
Did stores in the past attach their name to furniture they would sell and "install" even if it wasn't their design? I've seen three slightly different designs being sold as being a Thonet cm 190 armchair version. What should I be able to find if this is a real one? Did Thonet change the design over the years? Anyone with an old catalogue that could help?
thanks for your help
