I've seen
I've seen fiberglass side chairs and heard about the full diamond, but never actually seen it. No idea when it was produced or for how long.

It's not Knoll, I can tell you that. It's just some weird knock off. I've seen them.

I got them!
Ok I just went and picked them up. Got the pair for $25.00. There are no markings other than a crayon marking #14. Any ideas who manufactured them?

There is an image
There is an image in the Knoll Space book with a fibreglass side chair. I dont think its a knock-off.

True
But I am pretty damn sure they didn't produce this chair in fiberglass. They did introduce the fiberglass Bertoia side chair as a competitor to Herman Miller's side shells that were so well received in the contract furniture market.
This isn't Knoll, I am 98.5% positive 😉

The base is so obviously...
The base is so obviously different from the Bertoia. The Bertoia fiberglass chair has the same exact base as the wire version. Why would they make a base like this, when the original design would suffice?

The base
the base was giving me some problems as well...I couldnt quite tell if there are wierd shadows interfering or not. Anyway - at 25$ a pop they're still fun 🙂
Hrmmm... EC can you post us better pictures of the chairs?

Not the most elegant base...
Not the most elegant base design I've ever seen......but nice chairs regardless.... .especially for $25.00. Not all furniture has to have a Knoll, Herman Miller, etc pedigree to be great.

I completely agree. The design has to be great to be great. That's all.

eac4085, I'm afraid your...
eac4085, I'm afraid your Diamond chairs are copies. I've seen these chairs, also in orange, on eBay before.
I have picture libraries on specific designers, Bertoia being on of them, and here I found these pictures which is supposely the real deal.
In my mind it would have been a natural step for Knoll to launch a fiberglass version of the Diamond chair along with the fiberglass 420 side chair. Perhaps production was stopped quickly due to unknown reasons, perhaps the fiberglass Diamond below is a prototype. I've only ever seen one of them.
