I'm getting major bad feelings that this Cherner Pretzel chair I bought from eBay is in fact not real. It has the Plycraft label and has what is supposed to be founder Paul Goldman's signature underneath from '95. I've seen other chairs with the wider waist signed by Paul the same year.

Could this be a weird design variation? I could see this being a design made to keep up with 80's/90's tastes. I paid $535 for it (plus $120 shipping).

Here is the original ebay listing:

Did I get scammed? any thoughts will help ease!

Not a Cherner design
It is a later Plycraft production based off of Cherner's design. I presume Plycraft widened the neck due to breakage issues with the original design. Many sellers still advertise this chair as Cherner for obvious reasons.

Thank you! woodywood! Have you ever heard of Paul Goldman signing some of the plycraft chairs in the 90s? Obviously this could've been faked, but wanted to know if an autographed plycraft chair is something seen before.

Well
I'm awfully skeptical that an octogenarian Paul Goldman would bother to personally sign such a chair but I suppose the human ego knows no bounds...
I'd ignore the signature part of the story if I were you. It doesn't even appear to say "Paul Goldman" as far as I can read it.

That signature
appears to be a stamp. You can see where it's been stamped twice. I do think it says Paul R. Goldman, but I don't think he was out in the factory signing chairs.
