Hi Robert,
I managed to pop in and see the Day's exhibition at the weekend. It was quite good, there were some nice pieces including: the Highboard for Hille, Chevron chair, Model 1108 radio and the small armchair below
Lots of lovely Lucienne Day fabrics displayed too.
Here's a link to some photos of the exhibition when it was in the Days' hometown in Chichester earlier this year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/strawberrysoup/sets/72157626370325672/
They also had a couple of your tricorne trays, one with original box!

British innovation?
was having the conversation today about how innovative mid century U.K. designers of furniture were. Were the British following in the footsteps of the Americans and the Scandinavians? I would be interested to hear your thoughts......especially on the social dynamics of design such as Council for Industrial Design CC41, use of WWII materials such as Ernest Race BA chair, Willliam Plunkett etc...
I wouldn't necessarily
say following in the footsteps of, but they were almost certainly all aware of each other and innovations in materials and manufacture.
Some of the Scandinavians were, of course, off to the US, and the war was a World war not a British war; affecting most of Europe and the US too.
