I live in the Orlando area of Florida, so you can understand why I am surprised when I walk into a Lacoste for the hell of it, and see an eames armchair sitting right in the middle of the store, or more recently, an eames rocker sitting in the corner of a fossil store in Universal city walk.
So my question is, have you ever seen random mid century furniture in retail stores? I always wonder, specifically in the Orlando area, where these store owners are finding these vintage lamps and chairs. Orlando is barren when it comes to this category of design, at least in my experience.
Both
of the stores you mentioned are parts of much larger chains and as such will be the product of an interior designer who will be responsible for sourcing the furnishings. These designers will have contacts within the trade, so any furnishings may not be locally sourced.
