Sad news
I knew she couldn't last forever, but it's very sad indeed. In terms of ceramics, she was a giant of design.

Thanks
Thanks. She had a good run.
Funny, just saw her photo in the DWR catalog about 5 minutes ago.
And Sori Yanagi, just a few days ago.

A loss, indeed.
I had the pleasure of being sat next to her at a museum dinner a few years back.
Best,
Mark

The fish that I threw back into the pond ...
I had the sorrow 15 years ago of handing over to a vintage shop on consignment a complete set of Museum -- servers, vases, cruets etc -- that I had purchased at Goodwill for $65, pre-internet days, before I knew what it was. I just thought it looked kinda cool. The shop owner kept muttering "Ya know what I could get for this in New York?!?!" At the time I was into colored dinnerware a la Russell Wright and Fiesta, so didn't give it a second thought....argh.

Her passing
was very nicely acknowledged on the great US CBS "Sunday Morning", a magazine-style Sunday morning hour and a half TV program. Very nicely done.

Great designer, wonderful woman
I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Chicago Modernism show a few years ago. She was a delightful, dignified woman without a trace of pretense. I'm sure her openness, curiosity, and delight in her work were factors in her longevity. She was truly one of the greats.
