I've been helping a friend with a repair of an Eames L&O from Europe. At first I thought it was Vitra, but it is in fact Mobillier International. Hume can only get new parts through Vitra and isn't sure the backboards of the cushions will match up or even be the correct size. Anyone have any other suggestions?

My concern is that the wood shells appear much more shallow than the American version. Any thoughts on measurements between the Vitra version and the Mobillier versions?

Thanks in advance.

Looking at pictures on ebay...
Looking at pictures on ebay I think the Mobilier International version looks very much like my Contura.
I can't say if there's a difference between Contura and later Vitra versions, but as my chair is disassembled for repairs I could easily make some photos and measurements if that helps.

I used some Herman Miller cushions and arms on a UK Hille chair with no issues. Everything fitted as it should do albeit with some MINOR gaps in places, not really noticable. IIRC (and this was some time ago) I did have to change the cushion hooks on the chair though as they were different.

NIck,
How was the experience changing the cushion hooks? That may be what we end up doing. How did you accurately get the measurements from the cushion back to the wood?

Hi Lucifer - I am afraid I...
Hi Lucifer - I am afraid I can't be much help to your question as I had my restorer do it for me. I don't think it was a major job though. I think the cushion hooks might have been in the same place so swapping them over on the chair would have been ok, although don't quote me on this as it was a couple of years ago now!
