Steel/Leather chair
Hey,
I own a store with a pair of the Jorgensen leather/steel chairs. Very cool. A single chair sold in another NYC mid-century shop a few weeks ago with a list price of $4500...but was mis-attributed as American by Luther Conover. The chair was an entry in a 1953 design competition of leather craftsman in Denmark, then went to the Milan Triennial in 1954, and in 1955 was distributed by Bovirke. An earlier version was suede and had a sexy stitched suede headrest. The leather version is the 1955 Bovirke version, without headrest. I don't know how long these were in production, but some on the market definitley look more recent then others.

Thank you for your help - I...
Thank you for your help - I was enormously pleased to actually get a mail from Annemarie Lund, daughter of Erik Ole Jorgensen after writing Jorgensens Furniture Factory in Fuen, Denmark - the factory that was started by Mr Jorgensen and now is run by his two sons. You are totally right with your info - and please let me know if you get in any more chairs by him!
