I've just bought this chair to restore. I know the Model 49 Kirkegaard chair by Høng reasonably well but I'm intrigued by this one because it has Rosewood arms and a Walnut frame. I've never seen this combination before. Being the eternal optimist I'm hoping that's because it's very rare. Any ideas or info would be gratefully accepted. Rick S
Can you keep the holsters as is! It is wonderful.
And I have no idea as to the rarity of that. Although I would assume it is rarer. Rosewood pieces cost more. Of course Høng was never a premium company to my knowledge.
Rosewood and walnut would be strange combination. Are you certain it isn't rosewood and afromosia? (which would darken to about the color of the chair with UV exposure) this would still be an odd combination, but still less odd than walnut as the Danes used a lot of afromosia, even though it is rarely acknowledged.
Incidentally _if it is afromosia_, that might have implications for restoration as the darkness of the wood would disappear with sanding. (Fresh afrormosia looks quite similar to teak) You would perhaps have to find a tanning salon to re-tan the wood.
