OK, here is a riddle for Danish enthusiast. These images are of different bases on three generations of Jacobsen egg chairs made by Fritz Hansen. I've arranged them in the order I believe they were produced.
First is the cast one-piece base but there is no manufacturers mark in the mold.
Second is the cast one-piece base with the FH and "made in Denmark" in raised letters.
Third is the two part base (chair has tilt function) and is marked in the mold.
I think that the earliest (late 50s or very early 60s) is unmarked. Then in the mid to late 60s they began marking the base. I am not sure exactly when they switched to the two part base, but I think it was in the late 70s.
Are my date estimates correct or am I way... off base?
