Can anyone tell me why the Egg Chair has that little metal crank sticking out of the bottom? Is it just to hold things secure during shipping? From the look of
it, I expected some sort of adjustability (tension? angle?). Still love the chair, though.

tilt
that is the tilt mechanism. If I recall it's got just 2-3 turns for adjustment.

Thanks, Lucifer. So it's just tilt or no-tilt? I was afraid I broke it
when the handle came out in my hand. It goes back in, but you
have to really feel around to find the threaded socket. Seems oddly
loosey-goosey for such an otherwise precise design.

I've heard
I've heard about this problem before. Last time I saw in the chair was some months ago...the handle only turns 3-4 times, each one tightening up the tension a bit. Did you buy the chair new or used?

to clarify.......
the handle simply increase or decreases the resistance to tilt back in the seat..... it won't hold it in any one position nor is it "on/off"
