Hello.I have 2 Eames fiber glass with vinyl upholstered side chairs from the 70s.About an inch of the stitching has come undone on the seams that cross through the middle of the chair.Does anyone know the easiest way to get this repaired. The damage is minimal but I know that does not always mean the repair and cost will be.Thanks so much!

No way you can repair that...
No way you can repair that. You can never get the cover off
and back on. The foam is rotten and it will it just rip the seams more.
sorry the only thing you can do is completely recover it with a new vinyl or fabric.

I see..
...thanks soo much for the response.shows how much I know about sewing.I thought there would be a way to sew the seam up while the vinyl was still on the chair.Well, this makes sense......sounds like a costly project. And if I decided to go forward with this type of project,do you think the chair would be as comfortable with the new vinyl and padding....I mean, this chair is unbelievably comfortable!

my company has done 100s...
my company has done 100s of the Eames chairs and we always refoam the chair and put the new vinyl or fabric on.
Everyone always tells me they are more comfortable then before.
You have to realize by the time most people sit on these chairs they have already be in the marketplace for 50 years, at least. So most people are sitting on old dried up foam. with split seams.

LRF, how much are you charging to do such a replacement for an armshell or sideshell?
Thanks
Julien.
