Hey guys,

Does anyone know a cheap source of glides for the Eames H base? I know Hume has them for something like $24 plus shipping for a set, but I don't see a piece of plastic being worth $6 on its own. And considering I have a number of chairs I need to fix (I'm putting together a set of 10 for a very large dining set), spending almost $250 for plastic feet seems excessive. Any other sources?

Thanks!

H-base glides
Plenty of used ones on eBay... A bit of a pain to install, as I understand. Never tried it myself.

I always buy my spares from Graham Mancha, he offers decent prices and expert advice if you need a heads up fitting them.

Some years ago I ordered several dozen through the local Herman Miller dealer, Office Pavilion or something like that. They were a contract/office furniture dealer, it was before there was a HM for the Home division. Price was very reasonable.
Putting them on was no problem (just bang them in with a hammer) but getting the broken old ones off first was a real pain. Had to totally destroy them with an electric drill and needle nose pliers.

Used via eBay is the way to go...
Normally you can find someone selling them in bulk. They aren't that bad to replace. Just know that you'll have to push any broken glides remaining up into the legs before replacing them with new ones. There's no pulling them out.

And oh yes...
The other advantage of eBay(aside from price) is that you'll be matching patina for patina. If you're replacing vintage glides, why not replace them with vintage glides?
Vintage.
