Herman Miller's new spring line of Eames furniture made for outdoor use looks pretty cool. This appears right in time to compete with Knoll's taking over of Richard Schultz' company.

Not impressed.
It's a shame that they're covering all the pretty aluminum in the Aluminum Group chairs with white or black paint. Clear powdercoat exists; why isn't that a finish option?
And I'm not sure why I'd want a stone LTR that weighs 17 pounds, costs as much as 10 wooden LTRs, and is available only with that cheap-looking white or black coating on the base. Especially if I were going to put it on concrete, where it'll chip or crack if it tips over.
I like it. On warm days I like to sit in my vintage aluminum lounger outside (and imagine I'm sitting outside a case study house). With the new HM versions at least I wouldn't have to worry about the colour fading from the sun...
To me the black and white powdercoated frames look really nice. Vitra have them over here (although not outdoor proof I think). The original outfit will always be on top but still a very nice addition.
