I was able to check out the LACMA California Design exhibit recently, the highlight of which for me was the Eames living room. There was a rectangular shaped metal tray/platform on rollers with rocks in it in one corner of the room. It had several potted plants on it. Anyone know what that is? I'd like to find or make one. I'm not sure if it was some sort of standard industrial thing or if it was custom made. Here's the best picture I could find on the internet. It's on the far left of the photo.
Search for "cabinet dolly", "steel dolly", etc.
Here's one that's 48" x 24" for $93: http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/H-2463/Cabinets-Lockers/48-x-24-Cabi...
And 60" x 24" with a removable pull handle for $192:

case study #8
I believe that the potted plant stand was custom designed by Eames and unique. A friend and I spent some time looking it over at one of the Birthday open-house events. He was thinking of making one for his house. I recall that it had a threaded bib hole on the underside to attach a hose to for draining. Neat piece but I prefer keeping my plants outdoors.
