Hi all. I recently glued new shock mounts to a shell chair. Used JB-Weld, widely recommended. The adhesive stuck to the fiberglass extremely well, but when I sat on the reassembled chair, two of the mounts popped loose from the epoxy right away. (The epoxy itself stayed bonded to the shell.) Has anyone else had this problem? Did I overtighten the screws, maybe?
Very surprised at this: I'd understand adhesion problems with the fiberglass, but not with the new mount, which is clean and has a crepey surface.

This is what I do.
I take a knife and scratch the hell out of the shock mount where I'm going to glue. Roughing up the surface really helps it to stick. And you don't want to push the shock mount too hard against the shell. Pushing too hard will push all of the glue out the sides. Also, it's best to do this at room temperature. If your shell and mounts are too cold, the mounts can pop off more easily.

Be sure the surface of the shock mount is sanded and clean (with acenton / alcohol).

Thanks folks. Will try all of the above and reglue.
Would you remove the last blob of epoxy altogether before regluing, or just carve a divot in it? It's really stuck on well.

Sand the residue
to rough it up a bit, wipe it down with acetone on a Q-tip (as mentioned, you should do to the mating surface of the shock mounts, too) and re-glue.

Despite the fact that JB-Weld gave good results in the past with re-gluing shock mounts, I personally switched to an industrial epoxy with better specifications. It cost (much) more and dries slower, but is expected to be more stable.

Which one, joink?
I've been curious about ITW Plexus and West System G/Flex for this application, but I have to say I've had zero failures with PC-7.
