Hi there,
Did someone ever remove the original upholstery from an Eames fiberglass armchair? How does it look like underneath? Is the fiberglass coated as in the non-upholstered versions -or as in the back of this one-?
My chair has a wonderful Girard fabric, but so worn down it lost all of its charm.
I've been hesitating for weeks, any advice will be appreciated!!

Two things
first thng you should know...they glued that sh*t down. Its really tricky to get all of the foam off of the shell and get it nice and cleaned up.
Second thing is that most of the upholstered shells screw directly into the seat - which means you'll have 4 shiny on the topside of the seat.
You can have the whole thing reupholstered at Retro-redo - they use Maharam and can often match fabrics and vinyl.
Good luck!

Surprisingly, that Girard fabric that used to be so worn down looks much better to me now!!
Nice psy job!
