Hey all,

I have come across an Eames bikini wire rocking chair at a local antique shop for quite a steal. They are holding it for me. I was going to go pay for it today, but we got 11 inches of snow last night so I'll have to go Sunday. The woman who owns the store isn't all that familiar with mid-century modern pieces. They deal mostly in more classic designs so she wasn't sure how to answer my question.

Anyhoo, my question is when I buy the rocker, should the base be exchangable to an upholstered Eames shell chair? I really want an upholstered Eames rocker in mustard yellow. I'm also planning on putting Eames bikini chairs around my kitchen table so I should be able to take the bikini chair off the rocker and put it on an Eiffel base. Am I coorect in my thinking? I plan on buying the rocker regardless.

Measurments
Cloudburst - there are two measurments for the Eames shell (and wire) chairs. THe narrow mounts should fit all bases except for some versions of the stacking side chair. THe measurements are 7 3/4" between centerpoints on the front and 4 3/4" between centerpoints on the back. The stacking shockmounts are about 20" apart.
