Hello everyone,

I just bought an eames wire chair in a rush, for a really nice price. In case it's authentic it would be a win, if not it's not a loss.

The seller was trustworthy but clueless. He sold two Herman Miller side chairs which were definetly authentic and some other stuff. All the things he sold he inherited from his uncle. He said the wire chair was purchased by his uncle about 20 years ago from Vitra.

At home I removed the cushion and looked on the wire (btw. I've never seen an overall cushion on the wire chair before) and at this point I thought it's just a cheap reproduction. But I'm really not into the wire chair, so maybe some of you can tell me wether it's authentic or not. And what about the eiffel base? Please take a look add the photoset I uploaded:

Looks correct to me
...though there appear to be differences between Vitra production and vintage Herman Miller production. Namely, in the States the base was offered in zinc, not high polish chrome like yours. From your photos there appear to be signs of age and wear that would be consistent with a vintage chair, not a newer copy.
Looks like a nice chair. Enjoy it.

Thanks for the quick...
Thanks for the quick response!
One thing that perplexes me most is the inaccurate positioning of the "frame" under the seating surface, where the base is mounted (as seen on picture no. 3). It's not really centered, the distance to the next wire on the left and right is different on each side.
