Hello folks - I am looking at this item on eBay and would like to solicit a second opinion about this item as to if it is real or fake. I asked for the COA - but it looks a bit different than my other COA's I have gotten from my DWR purchases...so - better to be safe than sorry. I asked him to post the photo of the COA and he did so immediately. There is also the fact that he has zero feedback that I am considering as well.

Thanks in advance!

From the single photo
It looks right to me, but I think you can buy a new or nearly new Time-Life stool for a bit less than they are asking.

Looks authentic
Starting bid is an okay price (if brand new), but they do show up on eBay fairly regularly (new and used) so you might be able to do better.

The Time Life stools are my all out favorite Eames pieces. The ebay listing above seems quite expensive..and the seller hasn't bought/sold anything. I'd shop around a bit more...

?
Standard retail price for a new stool is $829. If the stool in the listing is also in new condition, I don't see how the starting bid of $600 would be considered "expensive". But yes, it is certainly possible to find better deals.

Oh
you are so right, Woody! I guess I'd be more concerned by the lack of feedback with this ebay seller.

stools...
I've never understood these stools coming from Eames. They remind me of pawn chess pieces, or big spools. Nothing wrong with that but their chunky lines remind me more of Victorian type furniture than MCM.
I will admit when looking at the blueprints for these stools they look cool, and I can better see the design element, but the finished product in dark wood makes me think they should go in front of my grandma's Victorian piano.
Maybe the Time-Life building didn't want to go out on too much of a ledge with modern design so Eames incorporated some more traditional design elements in their work with the building.

Well Tiny,
I love all of them. They function well as additional seating, or as a simple nest of cocktail tables (as I use them in my Florida den). Plus, they are quite well made...and I'm thinking that Ray herself did the design.

I
think that's probably the whole point of them, their slightly 'antique' slightly 'ethnic' quality. The perfect foil for sleek moderness of their other designs, much in the way they furnished their home.
