I recently purchased an Upholstered Eames Side shell, and I would like to take the vinyl off, but I'm scared of what I might find under it. I can take off the foam and glue, but will there just be open holes on the shell? I have a light colored shell and I can't patch it with anything dark.
Thanks, Nicolas.
P.S. The chair has a stacking base.

Well...
If there are any holes in the shell, you're going to see them from the outside too. You say it is on a stacking base? Is it on a wide mount or a narrow mount? Do the screws thread into the shell directly or into a shock mount?

I've done this several times with good results, if you have some pictures of the underside that would help.

I think they turned out OK
I did a tutorial on how to remove and fill the holes, they are a little glossy but I like how they turned out.
